Best/cheapest 1 to 1-1/2 inch flat iron for loose curls?

I've seen the pink Chi flat iron with curved edges used to make gorgeous curls.





But my straightener now is a two inch and straightens perfectly so I don't really want to invest in another expensive straightener.





So, to those of you who curl your hair with a flat iron, which one do you use and how do you like the results?Best/cheapest 1 to 1-1/2 inch flat iron for loose curls?
